What motivated you to become an entrepreneur? Is having your own business something you always wanted?

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Deep down I knew that, at some point in my life I’d venture into working for myself. Embarking on any business journey is not easy but I truly believe that one can scale at a pace that feels comfortable to them and can build something out of nothing. What motivates me is the power of direct connections with  people, whether that’s  consumers or teammates. Behind every idea, brand or product is a human story and I’m grateful for being part of that narrative.

What advice would you give to someone starting out or pivoting their business or their career?

Every journey is unique, but here’s a few lessons I’ve learned along the way that I hope will be of value:

  1. Self-Reflection is Key: determine your #1 motivation for your entrepreneurial journey. Is it overall happiness, growth, financial stability? Reflect on it. Ensure you are doing it for yourself and not for others. When you encounter challenges later on, revisit your “why”. The introspection will help you stay on track during tough times or guide you towards a new purpose.

  2. Start Small & Test: before making life changing decisions or going all-in, test your new direction on a smaller scale. Continue to assess if the risks are worth taking. I’m naturally a risk taker and believe things will work themselves out but life has taught me the value of calculated risks. Growing at your own pace, trusting your own intuition are crucial. Overnight success is rare. It’s ok to take it slow.

  3. Embrace redirection:  If you feel like you're failing, you're actually being guided towards something different, possibly better.  Roadblocks are not failures, they are growth opportunities. Life has redirected me multiple times and I’ve learned to water what’s growing and let go of everything else. The key to success is to be able to stay resilient, recover fast and adapt easily. The faster you can do that the more successful you’ll be at any business or relationship.

How do you push through your worst times? What are some tips on how we can motivate ourselves when we’re not really feeling it?

  1. It’s great to have a good support system, professional network, friends, family, mentors to guide you on your next move.

  2. Remind yourself everything is temporary, this shall pass and the outcome might be better than anticipated

  3. Remember, you need just one ‘YES’ even if you’ve got a hundred “NOs”

  4. Lastly, try to stay agile, creative, adaptable. Redirect yourself, focus on your strengths, lean into what is already working, don’t go against the flow
