Spot Spa is a trendsetter that  has been grounded in holistic treatments and focused on nontoxic products from its inception 18 years ago.   We were green before "green beauty” was a marketing term people understood. Spot Spa has been featured in local and national publications because of the space we've created and because we've let our integrity lead us.

We are a community of organized healers who work together to provide an individualized approach to service. Our team has set out to help provide an experience that is authentic and based upon real human interaction. Services offered are always provided by practitioners who are unique in their approaches, but like-minded in their ethos--the  focus is on whole-body well-being and holistic beauty; this translates to integrity of service.

What are your favorite business tools and/or resources and why?

I am a huge fan of Harvard Business Review and their online emails, the Daily Alert and Management Tip of the Day.

Imagine you can choose how your future in 5 years looks like. What is it? Why?

I am actively working on an expansion of Spot Spas in the next year, in a very meaningful  way. This growth represents new offerings  that will ultimately change people's experience in their bodies on a deep and personal level. I am currently being very intentional about a focus that creates and embodies peace within. Peace within is what an individual can cultivate and what ultimately heals communities.

What do you think is the biggest obstacle for female founders? How can we overcome it?

I believe in all the female founders, and helping one another rise up. There is a competitive stigma that can be far more constructive when we use the strength and opportunity when supporting a whole community.

How do you generate new ideas to stay relevant on the market? Is it important to innovate in your space?

I choose systems that are proven, loving and ultimately steeped in integrity. When innovation is needed it always presents itself naturally, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. It's a very real process.

What are your short/long term goals?

Short term: We are hoping to continue to connect with our community, with kindness of heart.

Long term: I am currently working on a spa expansion that we hope will change our communities and continue the healing momentum that is SO needed.

What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

I don’t see it as a sacrifice it’s a gift and opportunity to share with others.

Was it difficult get capital/investors?

I’ll let you know when we get the funding! Wink wink!

What do you think about company culture? What are some of your tips on being a good leader?

Be authentic, connect and admit when you need to grow.  Say yes only when you mean it.

Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them? Can you share their quote/ideology that inspires you the most?

I have two!

Financial expert and author Ruth Hayden, who helped me create the mantra: “The decisions I make are based on keeping our doors open and creating a healthy business for us all to thrive.”

Chef and business owner Lucia Watson, a true pioneer in the farm-to-table movement in the Twin Cities, who never sacrificed integrity in service or product.
