What is a good article or book you have read recently? Why is it good?
Currently reading “A Code of an Extraordinary Mind” (click to check it out). I read a lot of business and self-help books…I can’t help myself. I love a good pep talk from people who are wildly successful. This book is transformative because it questions if the rules you are following actually your own? Or are you a product of your childhood, society etc? It’s an eye opener.
What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
I LOVE THIS QUESTION. I get this one a lot. As an entrepreneur, the biggest sacrifice I made was wasting time in jobs that put me in a box and placed a ceiling over my head.
I think when you work for yourself, the phrase “you’ll never work a day in your life” is a farce. I work all the time. But I give a shit. And nothing will happen unless I make it happen. I find balance as needed, but I work VERY hard.
Was it difficult get capital/investors? Has anyone underestimated you as a female entrepreneur? If yes, how did you handle it?
I received funding through a connection in my network. I met my business partner for coffee after she saw my necklace on a client of hers. When we met for coffee, within in 15 minutes she was trying to make an offer for a partnership. I was like.....”um…WHAT?” A month later I quit my day job and entered 2018 with the title CEO next to my name.
Now, it was not an easy process. Terror and excitement engulfed every moment. Make sure your values align with your business partners and have a contract reviewed by an attorney.
Being underestimated is my fuel. I like to beat the odds and rise above those who doubted me.
Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them? Can you share their quote/ideology that inspires you the most?
My business partner. She’s a certified B.A. She’s a self-made entrepreneur who blazed the trail in her industry for women. I aspire to be at her level of success and kindness one day.
She always says “stay steady.”
