What advice would you give to someone starting out or pivoting their business or their career?
My advice for someone starting out or pivoting a tech career is to first define goals and have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. Research is also important, so take some time to find out what skills are in demand, which companies are hiring, and what kind of salaries you can expect. Once you have a good understanding of your goals and the industry, it's time to learn and practice your skills. There are plenty of online resources available to help you acquire new skills and knowledge. Building a portfolio of projects is also essential to showcase your skills and experience to potential employers. Networking is also important in the tech industry, so make an effort to connect with other professionals and attend events. Always stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies and be adaptable to change as the industry evolves.
What are your top tips on how to motivate yourself when you’re not really feeling it?
I understand that maintaining motivation during challenging times can be tough, and it's okay to feel that way. You're not alone, and it's okay to take things one step at a time. To stay motivated, it's important to remind yourself of your purpose and visualize positive outcomes to keep yourself motivated. Breaking tasks down into smaller, more manageable ones can also help you to avoid feeling overwhelmed. It's crucial to take breaks to relax and recharge to reduce stress levels and prevent burnout. Seeking support from friends, family or mentors can be a great source of encouragement and guidance when you need it the most. Joining a community of like-minded individuals can provide valuable insights and learning opportunities, which can help you stay motivated. You should also celebrate the small wins too sometimes.
Which 3 books would you recommend to a fellow entrepreneur or leader?
The first book is Atomic Habits by James Clear I believe it is a good book because it provides practical advice, is evidence-based, and relatable.
The next is Hit Refresh by Satya Nadella. It’s a very inspiring book and it provides valuable insights and lessons for leaders, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in technology and innovation.
The third book is Grit by Angela Duckworth. I like this book because it teaches about to be a high achiever and emphasizes that beyond talent and luck, you need a grit mindset.
