Tamar Daniel @ T U X E is building women up, one purchase at a time
What is TUXE?
Tuxe is a line of bodywear designed for the professional woman. Tuxe is the first women’s apparel brand to come with career coaching with purchase. We’re building a really new shopping experience which creates a supportive environment for our customers.
Was it difficult get capital/investors? How so?
The biggest mistake I made, was starting out- working with my dad and my husband. They’re both wonderful men. But they did not get it. And I fell in to old patterns of not managing the finances, not asking the pertinent questions. If they underestimated me it was my own fault for not speaking up early on and showing up to take over the spreadsheets, the money management.
Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them?
My grandmother is my big inspiration. She is 95 and always teaching herself new things. She loves things to be beautiful and functional and she brings joy to everything she does. She made corsets in Vienna to support her family as a teenager, and later as an orphan in England, used her craft to find her feet.
What is one thing you find to be true that most people would disagree with?
You do not need to hire a PR agency or showroom in order to be successful. I was told over and over at the beginning that I would need to have budget for those things, that turned out not to be the case. I am a passionate advocate for brands doing it on their own.
What is your proudest accomplishment of this year?
Working with Meghan Markle’s team to dress Meghan was a huge moment for the brand this year. In the coming months we’re excited to push the envelope on e-commerce experiences for professional women, by really exploring the juxtaposition of clothes which work hard and content which supports our customer.
