Olivia Rose Wright @ Rallier makes beautiful clothes & helps educate girls
In at least three or four sentences tell us what you do.
Rallier is an emerging womenswear brand inspired by the notion of a self-defined uniform. Designed and made in New York, the collection explores the tension between individuality and timelessness by mixing the heritage of archetypal dress codes with a modern spirit of ease. Our pieces are made from high quality, ethically sourced natural fibers and designed to be worn for years down the line. For every piece sold, school uniforms are sourced from regions plagued by gender inequality and given to local schoolgirls.
What were you doing before this? How did it prepare you for the entrepreneurial life?
Prior to launching Rallier, I worked as a publicist for luxury brands such as Prada, Cartier and Vera Wang. I fell in love with the intersection of creativity and commerce. My career in the traditional fashion industry gave me a very clear understanding of the status quo and fueled my rebellious spirit, which ultimately led me to launch Rallier.
Do you have a fixed work routine? Is it important to have one? Any tips for our readers?
Yes. When you create your own schedule, I think it really helps to have a fixed routine. I meditate in the morning and then move to the daily tasks that require the most creativity. I save answering emails and more quantitative tasks for later in the day.
Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them? Can you share their quote/ideology that inspires you the most?
I look up to Ulla Johnson. I love how her business has grown over time in a way that feels organic and unrushed. There is a lot of pressure in the entrepreneurial world to scale at a fast rate, which may actually be counterproductive to your longterm goals. Especially in the fashion industry where we see an exorbitant amount of waste, I think thoughtful growth is something to look up to.
What is your proudest accomplishment of this year? What are you looking forward the most in the next 12 months?
As we continued to evolve in our second year of business, we made the switch to a seasonless product development strategy. This helped us ensure that our greatest impact continued to be on style, the empowerment of women and girls and not on the degradation of the environment while also creating operational efficiency. In the next 12 months, i'm looking forward to the new product we have coming within this framework. Stay tuned!
