Juliet Ibrahim Journey as a Ghanaian Actress Producer and Entrepreneur Empowering Young Women and Making an Impact
I’m Juliet Ibrahim, a Ghanaian actress, film producer, and singer of Lebanese, Ghanaian, and Liberian descent. My journey in the entertainment industry began with winning the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards for my role in 4 Play. Recognized for my talent and beauty, I have been honored as the "Most Beautiful West African Woman" by A-listers Magazine. With a passion for storytelling and creativity, I strive to inspire others through my work in film and beyond.
Born on March 3, 1983, in Accra, I grew up in a multicultural environment. As the eldest of four siblings, including actress Sonia Ibrahim, my family faced challenges due to civil unrest, which led us to spend significant time in Lebanon and Ivory Coast. This diverse upbringing shaped my perspective, and I proudly embrace my identity as a Black woman. I pursued education in languages and media, studying at the Ghana Institute of Languages and the Ghana Institute of Journalism, where I developed skills that would later serve me in my career.
In addition to acting, I am a passionate entrepreneur. I founded Shades by Juliet Ibrahim, an affordable eyelash brand designed to meet international standards for women from all walks of life. My goal has always been to create opportunities—not just for myself, but for others around me. Through my film production company, Jewelz Productions, I aim to create content that educates and entertains. I believe in empowering young women and creating jobs, and I’m committed to making a positive impact in my community. As I continue to grow my brands, I aspire to compete on an international level, reaching more young girls and inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
What motivated you to become an entrepreneur? Is having your own business something you always wanted?
As a young girl growing up, I have always wanted to create opportunities not just for myself but everyone around me. It gives me joy knowing I am able to create jobs to young adults since finding a job (even with a degree) has become a bit of a problem in most parts of the world.
How did you come up with your business idea? What inspired you?
I get a lot of inspiration from creating content that will serve as a form of edutainment for people thus I started my film production house called jewelz productions.
What were you doing before this? How did it prepare you for the entrepreneurial life?
I started off as a model. It wasn’t easy especially being a light-skinned woman from africa. There were so many limitations and set backs, but this didn’t stop me. I grew up being a shy person so working and spending most of my time in front of the camera and people was something I felt I couldn’t do. It took a lot of courage and perseverance to get m this far.
Do you have a fixed work routine? Is it important to have one? Any tips for our readers?
Yes I do have fixed work routine and I will say its very important. It helps put you in check to know your accomplishment and if you are heading towards the right path.
If you were a book, which one would it be and why?
Maya angelou’s the heart of a woman. It speaks so much about the sacrifice of a modern woman and how far she is willing to go and make things right to make the world a better place.
What do you think about company culture? What are some of your tips on being a good leader?
By making the interest of my workers a priority.
What are some pros and cons of having (or not having) entrepreneurial parents?
It helps shape and motivate you into wanting to do more for your self even with limited opportunities. And then it motivates you into wanting to achieve more than your parents.
What are your short/long term goals?
I will say my goals both long and short is to be able to reach out to more than enough young girls, being able to empower them through outreaches etc.
What is your biggest dream?
To have my businesses compete with international brands in the world market.
