Vanessa Holding Is Transforming Marketing and Communication through Dynamic Video Content at Arc and Crown Media

At Arc + Crown, we are a passionate team of video professionals dedicated to helping companies transform their marketing, communication, and learning content into dynamic videos that drive action. Our journey began when two women from different backgrounds in the video production industry came together to offer high-quality digital media at a “no-frills” value. We believe that effective video content should be both impactful and accessible, allowing businesses to connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.

Our approach starts with strategy. We conduct thorough research to understand your objectives, pain points, and target audience. This foundational work allows us to craft a tailored video strategy that communicates your core messaging effectively. When it comes to production, we offer full customization and scalability to meet your specific needs. Whether it’s animation, professional studio shoots, or drone videography, we ensure your video reflects your brand’s values and uniqueness.

Delivery is just as important as production. We advise on the best platforms to host your content and how to effectively reach your desired audience. By analyzing video data and collaborating with partners for ad buys or LMS solutions, we help you maximize the impact of your videos. Our goal is to tell engaging, educational, and inspiring stories. We see ourselves as storytellers, teachers, and communicators, ready to guide you through every step of the process—from pre-production to delivery.

What motivated you to become an entrepreneur? Is having your own business something you always wanted to have?

I didn't grow up thinking I would be an entrepreneur, although I was a force to be reckoned with from a young age. Once I got to university my dominant personality was recognized by teachers and peers who knew I'd take charge when it came to group projects. I do see myself as a natural leader and therefore when I was stuck in a job I loved but working in conditions that were less than ideal, I decided it was time for a change. I left my job and dove in with two feet, my business partner followed a few months afterwards, and 2.5 years later we've never looked back.

Do you have a fixed work routine? Is it important to have one? Any tips for our readers?

Right when I left my full time job and started Arc + Crown Media I knew I had to keep myself on a schedule in order to stay away from distraction, as I was working from home. However 9 months in I found myself feeling guilty when I worked less than 10 hour days or didn't put in time on the weekends. Since then I've eased up on myself and am finding a good work-life balance where I can run a successful company and still enjoy my free time without stressing out that I'm not working hard enough. Everyone has to decide what works best for themselves, and not compare yourself to others as you don't know what's going on behind closed doors.

What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

When I started my business I didn't draw any income for a full 12 months as I wanted to re-invest whatever we made back into the company. So during that time I lived off of my savings and was very cautious about what I spent. I went from spending frivolously to pinching pennies, but it was worth every second of it. The day that my business partner and I started making a higher salary than we had at our last job was a huge win for us, and something that we certainly celebrated.

What is your greatest fear. How do you manage it?

Even though I'm very happy with how far we've come in 2.5 years of business, I'm still always fearful of failure. I'm not sure if it's just my anxious personality or my realist nature that knows most businesses fail within their first 5 years. However we are working hard at ensuring every year is better than the last, and putting the pieces in place so that the sales and marketing efforts we do this year will pay off next year so we can keep growing. Also my business coach recommended meditation, so I've been working on that and keeping myself positive and confident as that's the only way forward.

What is one thing you find to be true that most people would disagree with?

Something I've learned that I find interesting is that it really doesn't matter how smart you are. There are a lot of very educated people that don't amount to much, and conversely those that never graduate high school who find great success. I no longer worry about not being the smartest person in the room, but instead try to surround myself with other intelligent people, and focus on what I'm good at. It's hard to be everything to everyone, so instead I just try to be the best version of myself.
