Is it important to set goals or is it better to just “go with the flow”? What is your strategy?
I believe in taking small steps to get to the bigger picture. Set yourself goals.
For me, it would’ve been very overwhelming to wake up one day, quit my job, take out a loan to start a business. Instead, I worked evenings and weekends until I was too busy to do anything else. Within a year of my initial idea I was working full time on it.
What part of your personality helped you the most with your entrepreneurial journey?
Even though I can be a worrier, I never had any actual fear in starting a business. I felt I had nothing to loose and everything to gain. I had a very clear vision and knew exactly what I wanted to achieve.
From experience, I now believe in taking the path of least resistance. It has taken a while to understand what that means.
Do you think you want to start other businesses in the future or do you want to keep growing this one as long as possible? What is the dream?
I would like to keep growing the brand as I feel it can be diverse. We have been asked to develop products to sell in shops and this feels like something completely new. I think it’s important to grow and change so you don’t get bored.
How important is your network? Is there such thing as doing it alone? What is your view on “solopreneurs”?
I find networking very difficult. I do, however think it is so important. I have to push myself to attend events and I never regret it when I go. Not only is it fun meeting new people they can inspire you and you them. It doesn’t come naturally to me but I’m working on it.
What advice can you give to other female entrepreneurs?
Personally, the most important piece of advice I would give is to love what you do. It’s clichéd but so true. If you just focus on making money I don’t think that will fulfill you ultimately.
