Bianca Koyabe Created A Platform to Connect Influencers And Models To Brands
I am the founder of Scouted! South Africa which is a platform I created to connect influencers and models to brands. Scouted! is different because it’s an inclusive business and apart from just connecting talent to brands we also groom models and influencers in the form of workshops and downloadable e-books. As just mentioned we offer insightful workshops for models and influencers as well as photography and videography services for both brands and influencers/models. I have worked as a professional model for 6 years and saw a gap in the fashion and media world - I want to be a pioneer in my field - I want to help give aspiring models and influencers opportunities to better themselves (which I always wished I had when I was learning about the industry).
What motivated you to become an entrepreneur? Is having your own business something you always wanted to have?
My parents motivated to be an entrepreneur. With both of them starting their own ventures I was always surrounded by that drive and determination to create something that was my own and essentially be my own boss.
How did you come up with your business idea? What inspired you?
My idea came to me at 02:35 on a weekday in December of 2016. I wrote it down immediately and then I revisited it the next morning to try and put together what my thoughts were. I am always inspired by creating, I love to create and to explore my creativity. And I’m also passionate about helping people and that’s what inspired the idea to start Scouted! It’s a platform that I can be both creative and help people.
Do you have a fixed work routine? Is it important to have one? Any tips for our readers?
I don’t have a fixed work routine because ideas come to me at all hours of the day and night. I do however have a set time when I start to do admin and I make sure I’ve done all the admin for the day at a set time. I think everyone has a way of working that suits them best and I don’t like to feel restricted so I don’t give myself a routine but if it works for you then I think you should follow one.
What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
I wouldn’t really call them sacrifices but more decisions. I have had to take on more than one project at a time because you never what’s going to work and what’s not going to work. I have had to be really disciplined and always follow through with all my commitments. I have had to be okay with being “alone” so to speak - only because not everyone will understand what you’re trying to do until you’ve done it and this sometimes mean people falling away from your life. But in the end it’s always worth it, it’s always worth all the blood, sweat and tears. So if you’re feeling conflicted just remember that you need to always be patient, positive and persistent and things will be okay.
