Kasia Sasinowska is Building a Creative Empire One Shot at a Time
Hi, I'm Kasia, a freelance photographer and creative producer with over six years of industry experience. As a creative producer, I manage the entire lifecycle of creative projects, from schedules, scopes, and budget estimations to project execution and final asset delivery. As a photographer, I work closely with clients and creative teams to ensure that the visuals I create best address clients’ needs and expectations. Throughout my career, I've worked on a variety of creative projects, ranging from large-scale campaigns for clients such as Netflix, YSL, Live Nation, and Laneige to small artistic photo and video projects for various fashion magazines (Vogue, Cake Mag, C-Heads) and artists (Tommy Cash, Problem, Jullie Gaultier). Over the years, working in the creative industry across Europe and the USA, I've worn many hats, collaborated with numerous creative agencies and production houses, and learned the ins and outs of this industry from almost every angle.
What initially sparked your passion for starting your own business?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Both my parents have/had their own businesses and ventures, so I grew up surrounded by people with entrepreneurial mindsets. Naturally, I rebelled against this and tried many different things before admitting they might have been right. That’s when I decided to open my own business and freelance full-time, quitting more stable but often mundane jobs for the freedom to choose business partners and projects I fully believed in. What I love about entrepreneurship and having my own business is the freedom it offers: the ability to create my own schedule and choose projects that truly resonate with my values and interests. This makes my work incredibly fulfilling. Each project I take on is a step toward establishing my personal brand and making a meaningful impact in the creative world. This autonomy and the opportunity to work on diverse, passion-driven projects are what truly ignited my entrepreneurial spirit.
Did you have any female founders you looked up to as role models?
Absolutely! During my time at &Walsh, a woman-owned and led creative agency, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of some truly remarkable female leaders. Jessica Walsh, the creative director, Lauren Walsh, the head of strategy and new business, and Luciana Almeida, the executive producer, have been incredible role models and taught me so much! Watching them excel in their respective roles provided invaluable lessons about leadership, communication, creativity, and resilience. Their expertise and dedication not only inspired me but also equipped me with the skills and confidence to pursue my own entrepreneurial journey.
How have you navigated situations where you felt underestimated? How did you win?
I'm not sure what it says about me, but nothing motivates me more than being underestimated. I know what I am capable of, and unfair judgment only makes me want to work harder, learn from my mistakes, and prove people wrong (or more so - prove myself right). When faced with doubt or skepticism, I channel that energy into my work, striving to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results. This mindset drives me to perform at my best and reinforces my belief that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. By not giving up and consistently pursuing my goals and aspirations, I've been able to turn skepticism into respect and recognition, ultimately winning over those who doubted me, or even better - those who want to invest in my potential.
