Tell us more about who you are and your vision behind Alt Marketing School!

My name is Fab Giovanetti and I am an award-winning author, entrepreneur and marketing consultant helping busy professionals reclaim their time. I am also the CEO and head teacher of Alt Marketing School, supporting people making a positive impact through their marketing.

Through the community and my online consulting, I touched over 100,000 people from all over the world - I am a keen speaker, writer, and two-times published author, as well as guest lecturer across the UK.

What motivated you to become an entrepreneur / take your career in the direction you did? Is having your own business / this role you are in something you always wanted?

I have always been an entrepreneur, from the time I wanted to become a music journalist, when I became a personal trainer and now being the CEO of a Marketing School! I was tired of hearing people give marketing advice that was considered “good marketing” but never took into account the people behind the screens.

I couldn't find anywhere a place that would support people that wanted to market to hearts and do marketing better. As somebody who had worked in marketing for 13 years and had a strong network of amazing people I knew that I can bring together experts that could help me turn my vision into a reality by creating a school that will help creating accessible training that makes a positive difference.

What advice would you give to someone starting out or pivoting their business or their career?

Here are a few pieces of advice that I would give to someone starting out or pivoting their business or career.

Start by taking small, deliberate steps towards your goal. While it's important to have big-picture goals, don't forget to break them down into more manageable chunks and focus on accomplishing those first.

Leverage the resources available – from online courses and tutorials, to personal connections who can offer guidance and advice. For example, our podcast episode with Jackie Bavaro was one of the TOP episodes of 2022, and our listeners loved the career tips she provided!

Stay organised, create a plan for how you want to achieve your goals and stick with it no matter what obstacles come your way. Finally, enjoy the process – remember that challenges are simply opportunities for growth and learning!

How do you succeed in business without really trying? Aka: What are some of your best hacks and things you automate in your business?

Here are a few of my best hacks and automations for succeeding in business without having to try too hard:

  • Automate recurring tasks such as scheduling meetings, sending emails, or managing data. This can save you time and energy when running your business.

  • Utilise tools that are already available to you, such as task management or project management software. This can help streamline the processes of your business so that you don't have to do everything manually.

  • Create templates for frequently used documents or tasks – this can save you time while ensuring that the output is consistent each time.

  • Outsource certain tasks to knowledgeable professionals who can handle specialized work more quickly and effectively than you can– freeing up your time for more important things!

How do you push through your worst times? What are some tips on how we can motivate ourselves when we’re not really feeling it?

First of all, I no longer "push" through hard times. I try to prioritise treating myself with grace and kindness instead - only took me 9 years in business to learn that!  The tips below include what I currently do when I struggle.

  • Create small rewards for yourself along the way – completing small tasks can be discouraging if there isn't any reward at the end, so establish ways to reward yourself for even just the smallest progress.

  • Set aside time to focus on what really matters– be honest with yourself about what needs to get done and prioritize that over unimportant tasks or distractions.

  • Have an accountability partner – having someone who encourages you, challenges you, and holds you accountable will help keep your motivation levels high as you complete your goals.

  • Last but not least, never give up! No matter how hard it may seem, remember that setbacks are part of success and look for ways to learn from them instead of giving up completely.
