Malika Baxtiyorovna wants to reach out to women & empower them through her writing
I write because I have a story to tell. For more than thirteen years I have been writing scripts, short stories, and novels sharing my journey as a woman who has witnessed abuse and as a result ended up being a single mother. Through my writing I want to reach out to women like myself and empower them.
How did you come up with your business idea? What inspired you?
I have been writing for more than thirteen years. Writing is something I take after my late grandfather, who during his lifetime wrote a poetry collection and an autobiography. My first project was a script on the topic of the 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭. I still recall my visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, which was an eye-opening event. By looking at the victim's photos, I couldn't help but grow emotional. It pained me to see the fear in their eyes, their sadness, and grief. Thus, I decided to dedicate my work to all those people whose lives perished during the War.
What are your short/long term goals?
I am very ambitious, I always set myself long term goals. I want to continue my work for the United Nations because I truly believe in their cause. Moreover, I want to publish my novel and poetry collection and eventually open my own publishing house.
If you were a book, which one would it be and why?
I would resonate with “The Awakened Woman” written by Dr. Tererai Trent who shares her journey of overcoming abuse, remaining loyal to her dream despite cultural and traditional norms which tried to suppress her, and the power of visualization. This book illustrates the beauty of believing and having faith in your dreams and never giving up.
As a woman who fell into a family where I was abused and referred to as a zero, I never let such words bring me down. I strongly believed in my dreams and found the courage to step away from toxic people to build a better life for my son and I.
Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them?
I truly admire and look up to Marie Forleo. She is an amazing person, entrepreneur, and has a very bright personality. Her words of wisdom have helped me get through some difficult times in my life and her most recent book “Everything is Figureoutable,” is a must read. This phrase is so empowering because it truly proves that there is a solution to every problem.
What is your biggest dream? Why?
I write because I have a story to tell and my journey speaks of resilience. I want to inspire people and share my story to motivate them to keep going forward. Despite difficulties and challenges I want women and single mothers like myself to remember that they are someone with value. My biggest dream is to have a platform to promote women empowerment and uphold their rights.
