Logan Cohen's App Kudzoo is Recognizing & Rewarding Students For Their Good Habits
Success means... leaving a legacy, making an impact, & having peace of mind and heart.
Three adjectives that deserve me are... driven, organized, inquisitive.
You can’t run a business without... a mission that’s bigger than you.
In the next 10 years I will be... proud of the positive impact KÜDZOO continues to make for students.
KÜDZOO is an app that works to level the opportunity playing field by recognizing and rewarding students for their good habits, academic achievements, and kindness.
Students check their phones over 150x/day.
Instead of looking at smartphones as distractions, KÜDZOO leverages the relationship students have with their phones to engage them in their education.
Student submit their academic achievements, attendance and daily trivia for KÜDZOO Cash that they can use for gift cards, scholarship information and once in a lifetime experiences.
On KÜDZOO, smartphones are a tool to connect student achievers with opportunity.
How do you generate new ideas to stay relevant on the market? Is it important to innovate in your space?
We are fueled by and inspired by our student users. From feedback to focus groups they help to build and better our technology. It’s helpful to target Generation Z since they are brutally honest and technologically savvy. We generate new ideas by asking our student users why they belong to KÜDZOO and ask they how we can improve.
If you were a book, what would your title be and why?
Contribute More Than You Consume (except in conversations)
One of the most powerful pieces of advice I got was to listen to learn, not to respond. My book would be about the ways that everyone can find a way to contribute to society while keep consumerism and ego in check.
Did you have to fire someone before? What’s the best way to go about it?
It’s important to keep in mind that it’s not personal. Sometimes roles outgrow people. As a CEO, you have the fiduciary duty to do what’s best for your company. Map out what success means for your company in 6 months to a year. Ask what value your team members are contributing to those goals. If there is not a fit, then that needs to be communicated. It’s not easy, but don’t burn bridges or have bitter goodbyes.
What is one thing you find to be true that most people would disagree with?
I do not believe that you should follow your passion. As NYU professor Scott Galloway puts it, “The only people who tell you to follow your passion are already rich.” I encourage others to follow their purpose and talent. Find out what you’re good at and become great at it. The progress and growth will lead you to a purposeful, fulfilled career and life.
