Anne Kavanaugh promotes new music through an app that is exclusively available for rideshare drivers

Anne Kavanaugh steereo we rule werule

We promote new music through an app that is exclusively available for rideshare drivers. Riders in Uber and Lyft  are unknowingly listening to new and independent artists. We can deliver millions of songs every month our goal is to empower artists to receive the exposure and opportunities that would only previously been available through labels in the past. Through Steereo Artists can now see how people are naturally reacting to their music and promote to targeted audiences.

What were you doing before this?  How did it prepare you for the entrepreneurial life?

I started my first company at 22  (I’m now 30). I’m a firm believer in experiences over theory. I don’t know if there is a way to prepare for this journey- aside from have great people around you who will support you through the highs and lows and really believing in what your doing. I started my career in advertising and business development which was a great foundation to understand revenue and a sales function in a company.

What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

LOL.. entrepreneurship is a life of sacrifice. Over the years I’ve gotten better at identifying when I need to make valid sacrifice’s. In the early stages you have to sacrifice everything that requires your time and attention. Being a leader is really tough, sometimes you have to make really hard decisions.

If you were a book, what would your title be and why?

I’m actually writing a book right now. The  title is “Sense of Agency.” It’s all about the ability to make your own decisions and control your own life. Also anyone who knows me will tell you I live life with a sense of urgency so it’s also kind of a word play :)

Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why?

One of my best friends and partners.... Keith Cullen. 6/7 years ago he left an extremely successful business to pursuit his dream...Music. For as long as I’ve known him his mantra has always been “What defines us is how we rise after falling”.

Late last year he was diagnosed with Cancer and his grace and attitude towards the challenge his been faced with has not only brought such a massive perspective to life but inspires me everyday to be a better person and to bring as much joy to the world as humanly possible. Last week he went from Chemo to an award ceremony. His ability to lead life with positivity and mental strength is awe-inspiring.

PS: He just got the all clear.

What are some pros and cons of having (OR not having) entrepreneurial parents?

PRO’s

Risk Tolerance & Self Confidence.

My Dad is an entrepreneur and my mum was supportive of that. They raised me to believe I can do anything I put my mind to if I’m dedicated and invested and  to do it fearlessly.

CON’s

The anxiety you cause them as you embark on your journey as they know the uphill battle your about to encounter.

What is your proudest accomplishment of this year? What are you looking forward the most in the next 12 months?

Steereo! Everyday I get to wake up and work with creators who truly love what they do. I’m excited to see where the company goes but also to watch the journey of the Artists on Steereo over the coming year.
