Asha Tarry Went From People-Pleaser to Legacy Maker Who Empowers Marginalized Professionals

Hi, I’m Asha Tarry, an integrative mental health therapist and spiritual life coach dedicated to empowering marginalized men, women, and professionals of color. My mission is to help individuals harness their unique gifts and talents to serve others while prioritizing personal fulfillment, rest, and financial prosperity. With over two decades of experience in healthcare, I specialize in supporting creatives, wellness practitioners, and caregivers as they navigate and heal from generational trauma that often prioritizes work over well-being. My goal is to guide clients through transformative journeys from burnout and codependency to becoming intuitive, mentally fit legacy makers.

My healing journey began with a personal struggle against being a people-pleaser, which hindered my emotional well-being and discernment. I often found myself ruminating over interactions, delaying communication about how they affected my mental health. Through the insights gained from psychoanalysis and therapy, I recognized my dissatisfaction and made conscious changes to my decisions and relationships. This shift allowed me to create space for activities I love, gain clarity on my purpose, and significantly improve my financial situation. Now, I use my intuitive and spiritual gifts to help others embark on their healing journeys while I continue to invest in my own growth and well-being. I believe our lives should focus on learning, growing, and healing, enabling us to thrive rather than merely exist.

I primarily work with Millennial and Gen X professionals, creatives—including writers, artists, producers, and entrepreneurs—and caregivers. My clients seek solutions to various challenges, such as minimizing or exiting relationships with emotionally immature or narcissistically abusive individuals, recovering from workplace-related post-traumatic stress and burnout, and overcoming the tendency to over-perform in both work and personal relationships. I also guide them in breaking free from people-pleasing patterns and developing spiritual practices that enhance how they live, work, and play, ultimately helping them to build a lasting legacy.

How has your foundation assist other people to become independent and build their opportunities ?

My coaching has transformed the way people see themselves in the world, starting with in their own eyes. I've had clients confront difficult relationships and outcomes yet did so with conviction and as a result learned more about their strength, tenacity and new ways of showing up for themselves and others! After coaching with me, clients of mine have become more financially responsible, created workable, efficient systems in their small businesses, and have taken risks to grow themselves professionally and personally.

What made you choose this type of business? Why? What other markets are you interested in?

I believe that my work has divinely chosen me. I always knew I wanted to make significant impact on the lives of other people so I started with myself, using myself as a tester first. At 12 years old I began unbeknownst to me, the practice of universal laws of attraction. Evidently it proved valid because I went to the college of my choice and graduated with a successful track record. I lived in every part of New York City to date that I've dreamed of living. I've travelled so far and have plans on the books to travel to places in the world I never would have thought I'd go on my own. I founded and am thriving in a small business of my own after several naysayers doubted I could, and with the resources that I have to function, pay consultants and live comfortably. I wanted to then challenge myself to study and learn from experts how to teach other people to do the same thing- live a life on purpose. So, I returned to school, became a certified life coach and have had the best time coaching clients and running a successful private practice in psychotherapy. I also speak on stage, radio and t.v. as a way of sharing my work and inspiring others to live with intentionality. Eventually, I look to expand my work and do philanthropic work.

Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them? Can you share their quote/ideology that inspires you the most?

Since I was a child I have been impressed by the work and charisma of renowned life coach and speaker, Les Brown. He was the first life coach/speaker I ever saw on television as a child growing up in the suburbs. And the 1st person of color I ever saw and heard speak until I found my first coach, Lisa Nichols. Les Brown says, “what people think about you is none of your business!” That quote makes me fearless. I don't look at and envy what other people do. I look at, learn from and create my own stamp of success and happiness. And I do it without being concerned  what criticisms people have about it. If more people are happiest and transformed or even if some people are, I am happy. But, I do however, strive for extraordinary numbers of people to be transformed every time I do something better so I consistently work on myself to make that dream realized!

What part of your personality helped you get to where you are right now? Was this a trait, an accomplishment, a clear goal or did it happen by chance?

My self-discipline. If it were not for my parents building structure into my life as a child I don't know how I would function as an entrepreneur today. I probably wouldn't be an entrepreneur. It is because of my discipline and drive that I do so much in a day, a week, a year. I also discovered along this path how much I love to learn. I like to read but I always think I can read more, and quicker than I do at times. I love learning about other people, how they love and other cultures around the globe. I truly believe that it is my genuine interest and sincerity for others has been a great benefit to my career.
