Jessica Shaack is elevating the light bulb to a décor element with our patent pending Printed Light Bulbs
I’m elevating the light bulb to a décor element with our patent pending Printed Light Bulbs. Vivid designs, from marble to mahogany, are printed on energy efficient LED bulbs to make a statement with the lights on and off. No shade necessary and no patterns or colors projected on the wall. It’s a whole new way of looking at lighting.
What is a good article or book you have read recently? Why did you like it so much? What’s one important lesson you learned?
I recently read ‘Present Over Perfect’ by Shauna Niequist and honestly the title has become a mantra of sorts. This past year has been very busy launching and growing Relamp, competing in a big startup competition, adjusting to working with my husband and raising our two pre-school aged children. Endless to do lists and my own high expectations can easily take over if I am not careful. This book was a great reminder to simplify, take care of myself and enjoy the moment.
Imagine you can choose how your future in 5 years looks like. What is it? Why?
Relamp would be an established lighting brand in the US with big partnerships with my favorite retailers, fixture makers and interior designers. We’d have a large team of employees with great new ideas and experience to grow our brand and impact through our ‘Change a light bulb, Change the world’ mission. I would work with my husband every day, continue to pick up my kids from school, volunteer more often and fit in more travel with family and friends. And be thankful for every minute of it!
Who is the one super successful person you look up to? Why them? Can you share their quote/ideology that inspires you the most?
I really admire Nora McInerny, author and founder of Still Kicking. After losing three loved ones in quick succession she dedicated her life to helping people going through awful situations. I came across her story when Relamp was just getting started and three of my own loved ones died very close together. I admire her honesty, strength, sense of humor and belief that if you’re still kicking it’s your job to help others.
