Matching Dreams: How Harley's Angels Connects Families with Exceptional Childcare

Hello! My name is KatLynne Garcia.I am an Operations executive with 15 years of experience, working in publicly traded companies as well as start ups with a significant portion of that in Talent Acquisition. Before embarking on Harley’s Angels, I was a CEO of a National Staffing agency. Harley’s Angels was born out of my familiar dilemma upon returning to work as an expectant mom: finding the right in-home childcare for my son. I used my talent acquisition expertise and resultign matchmaking skills to recruit a caregiver who would not only ensure my child's safety but also provide nurturing support and development while making every day magical. I wanted other moms to have that same experience, as I am grateful for having such an amazing caretaker every day who is an extension of me. Harley’s Angels is a premier private childcare and daycare staffing agency, focused on matchmaking families and caregivers, with the goal to positively impact the lives of children across the country.

What initially sparked your passion for starting your own business?

Through my own journey in finding a caretaker for my son, I realized that without my Talent Acquisition background I would never have been able to search effectively for a great match and was frustrated with nanny websites that just didn’t do justice to how important this was to me. I located a caregiver whose warmth and expertise surpassed expectations, earning the endearing title of “Harley’s angel." Inspired by this transformative relationship, I founded Harley's Angels—a childcare service dedicated to matching families with compassionate caregivers who prioritize the well-being and development of each child infused with magical moments. My drive and my “why” is leaving a positive impact on this world and the heart I have for my son and children everywhere. 

What is your biggest piece of advice for overcoming self-doubt?

Self-doubt, imposter syndrome, lack of confidence - we all feel it! Throughout my career, I took leaps of faith and stretch opportunities that I knew nothing about. Through a spirit of continuous learning and belief that I can do anything I set my mind to, I learned to quiet the self-doubt and stand in my own power as a woman who wanted to leave a legacy on the world around her. I am still on that mission every, but small steps lead to big achievements! 

What practices have you found most effective for building a strong and supportive team culture?

Leadership has always been a core focus in my career. When I transitioned into a management role in the corporate world, I became deeply committed to being an effective leader. This commitment stemmed from my own experiences with ineffective leadership. I prioritize hiring the right people and invest time in getting to know each team member personally. When making decisions, I always consider their perspectives.

My team knows that I believe in them wholeheartedly and that I am their biggest advocate. However, I also challenge them to continuously learn and grow, both professionally and personally. This approach has fostered an outstanding team and company culture. As a result, many team members have chosen to follow me into new ventures, demonstrating the strong, cohesive teams we've built together.

What does the future hold for your company, and what are your biggest goals for the next few years?

My goal for Harley’s Angels is to open a nonprofit arm of the business, staffing underfunded daycare centers who need help finding exceptional caregivers for the children who attend the daycare. This service would be a pro bono division of the company, working with daycare centers who apply to work with us and truly have the heart to make a difference alongside us in our mission to change lives.
