Success means… being able to support myself and family doing what I love.
Three adjectives that deserve me are... unbreakable, adventurous, energetic
You can’t run a business without… determination
In the next 10 years I will be… holding huge events every year
I host fundraisers for pet rescues meaning I host unique and fun events for pets and their parents. It all started when I got my maltese BB and I never looked back. I came up with the idea to launch from a Pet Event and seeing that there was a whole new market out there. I thought I would just do party planning every now and then and look for some other way to fill my time. When I started hosting my own Pet Events I realized that this is something that I can do, have fun and make some money doing it.
How did you come up with your business idea? What inspired you?
I came up with Pups on the Runway after attending a pet event in the city. BB (my maltese) enjoyed being social with the other dogs and it looked like an opportunity to help rescues.
What were you doing before this? How did it prepare you for the entrepreneurial life?
I am still an Executive Assistant at a Financial Services Company and host events on the side. I prepared for my entrepreneurial life by hosting events at my church and birthday parties for my husband.
What are your short/long term goals?
My short term goal is to finally become a 501c3. My long term goal is to host a pet event on the scale of Global Pet Showcase, raise $20,000 for Yorkie 911 Rescue and have sponsors fund the whole event. It takes a lot of time and energy to produce even a small event.
What is your greatest fear? How do you manage it?
My greatest fear is that I will run out of ideas to keep events new and exciting so people will want to attend. I manage it by talking to pet parents in the community and feed off their suggestions. It might not always work out to exactly what they express to me what they would like to see more of, but I try my best to put the best twist on it that I can.
